A Cruise To Remember | The Friggin Loon

What's worse than falling ill on an Arctic cruise of a lifetime? Being dropped into sub zero waters during the attempt to transfer you onto a lifeboat. 73 year old Janet Richardson had taken ill during a cruise and the captain of the Ocean Countess contacted the Norwegian mainland for help. They immediately sent a lifeboat to transfer her to a hospital. Everything was just going dandy, until the two boats moved apart and in went Mrs Richardson, stretcher and all. For four horrifying minutes she was struggling in -3C (27F) water until they finally plucked her out to safety.

Psst There are photos.
