Earlier this month Hunter Grace defended her tricycle championship at the Redlands Bicycle Classic. She raced again in the tricycle division because she's not quite ready to ride the big-girl bike in a race sort of setting. Here she is behind the starting line:
The race was rather anti-climatic as there were only three other competitors in the four-year-old tricycle division, but that did not diminish Hunter's enjoyment of her victory. Check out what pure joy looks like:
And here she is with the pros who turned out to watch the youth races (or, more likely, made a wrong turn on their way back from a training ride…):
The pros congratulated Hunter on her win, admired her "modified" trike, and made fun of me for having trouble with my camera. Of course these boys had nothing on Hunter's biggest fan:
We rounded out the morning by having breakfast with Hunter's other big fans: the Fieldhouse family.
Of course, ever since the race we have had to listen to Hunter lament the fact that she has to wait an entire year to compete in another race. Maybe next year she'll be ready to race the big-girl bike.
