This morning about 20 cyclists will set out on a 380 kilometers bicycle ride from Port Augusta to Arkaroola, in an event named, "Tour de Flinders – Ride for Renewables". Riding on both sealed and unsealed roads during the day, and camping at night, the ride through the Flinders Ranges will take six days in an effort to raise awareness of what the Friends of the Earth call "the detrimental health, environmental, and cultural impacts of uranium mining". The riders are also calling for the decommissioning of all uranium mines in South Australia, and the establishment of a renewable energy industry in this State.
