
Approximately 10,000 houseboats exist along the canals of The Netherlands. There used to be a time when the population density in this country was quite high, and there wasn't enough space for people to be building their homes. So, they looked towards the wide network of canals that already existed there and decided that they would set up their houses on top of the water – fully equipped with water and electricity. Today, cities of Holland have some of the costliest and finest examples of houseboats in the world. Share this: Facebook
