A homemade gift for the kitchen. | The Farm Chef

Giving gifts is one of my favorite things. That being said I also love to give things that are both unique and useful. Handmade gifts are my favorite because I love creating. These dish cloths are something that I love to make as gifts. They are great for shower or wedding gifts as well as hostess gifts. Buying a kitchen gadget off a wedding registry? Add these for a personal touch, or wrap with a jar of homemade jam. They are super simple to knit and only take a few hours.

You will need: Size 7 knitting needles
100% cotton yarn (such as Sugar 'N Cream or anything with about 115 yards).

Directions:

Cast on 3 stitches
Knit one row
Next row- establish pattern:
Knit 2 stitches-yarn over-knit to the end of the row
Repeat for 45-50 stitches. This will make 1/2 dishcloth.

For the second half:
knit 1, knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit to end of row.
this pattern will leave you with 4 stitches.
Knit 2 together (row will have 3) then knit to end.
Knit 1 row then bind off and weave in ends.
