Adam Young, Servant of the Most High King. « Battle Of Love

It's always surprising to me when a widely-known secular artist turns out to be Christian. This was the case with Adam Young, the creator of the band Owl City. His blog shows that he is, without a doubt, a follower of Christ. He puts music to those words too- he did a cover of In Christ Alone (this was on his blog- I can't seem to locate it at the moment, but I'm sure it's there somewhere!). He wrote the song Meteor Shower, which boldly says "I am not my own/ for I have been made new/ Please don't let me go/ I desperately need You." Sometimes though, you don't know how in love with Christ someone is until something happens that gives you a little glimpse into their heart.

As I explored Twitter today, I noticed that Adam Young, the creator of Owl City, had tweeted a lot yesterday night. I scrolled down and read all the tweets from first to last, realizing quickly that these were more than just everyday tweets, the words more than just empty sentences.

I love you. The entire world is on fire and even though the flames are getting closer, I'm still so in love with you.

You make be brave, you send my silver tears into waterfalls that never stop falling. The air I breathe is laced with you.

Foxes creep in the shadows but I can't take me eyes off of you because everything about you is beautiful and breathtaking.

And even though I've got more problems than I can possibly count, you remain steadfast and absolute.

And when I finally find the courage to push my fists through the glass, I want to speak and be heard for miles around.

My voice will be shaky and my heart will be pounding but I just want to tell you I love you. With heavy tears, I'm so in love with you.

And as I catch fire, all I desire is to keep my eyes locked onto yours. For the sun sets and rises in those eyes…

And I crave so badly to be allowed to drown beside you in such glorious love.

Tears came to my eyes. This is one of the most beautiful prayers I have ever heard. It's things like this that make me wonder how anyone could doubt, how anyone could scoff, how anyone would not want to be wrapped up in such love as this. If you've felt it, you know exactly what this piece of heart really means. If you havn't, you really need to. There is nothing greater than this love. God loves you, and there is nothing you could do to make Him think you're not worth it- he DIED for you. He thinks you're worth more than anything in the whole world. This prayer is what He longs to hear from the hearts of all His beloved.

Adam Young, you are a great warrior of Christ and servant of the King, not to mention a huge dose of encouragement. I'm proud to know there are people who don't try to fake their love of God, or publicize by prostituting their passion for Him ("did you hear about that guy? Did you realize he says he's a Christian?! etc). More people hear you than you realize, and I will pray for your courage to grow so that they might hear the truth through you. When all eyes are on you and you still stand firm in your love of God, that's when miracles happen. That's what changes the hearts and minds of people, and what changes the fate of millions.
