auroral displays tonight result of june 7 coronal mass ejection

auroral displays tonight result of june 7 coronal mass ejectionA huge Coronal mass ejection (CME) recorded on June 7th by Solar Dynamics Observatory may result in large auroral displays in northern latitudes tonight! A CSMonitor article points out this is not to be confused with a mere solar flare but rather a more spectacular cause! "Though widely described as a 'solar flare,' the star of Tuesday's solar storm was a much rarer – and much larger – coronal mass ejection, which is distorting Earth's magnetic field and will produce the northern lights (and southern lights) tonight." You may, by stepping outside, look to the skies and catch a glimpse of something unusual! Admission is free!

sdo video of solar flare in super hi-def

sdo video of solar flare in super hd On February 24, 2011, Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) spacecraft captured magnificent stream of images, at 24 second intervals, to make a nearly flawless 17 second video here. A wave of erupting plasma as seen in high-def from a M3.6 class flare--never looked so good! It's pure eye candy. SDO launched from Cape Canaveral on Feb. 11, 2010 to study solar irradiance, the heliosphere and the solar wind on a mission expected to last over five years.

x-ray flares illuminate huge object near sun

Solar Dynamics Observatory NASA video reveals a very large solid object at close proximity to the Sun. The sphere is clearly visible near mid-line on the left side at 5-8 seconds and 33-34 seconds as the Sun rotates past and flares illuminate area. It appears to be a solid planet-like object? The Big Wobble reports the object stayed motionless for weeks! It is captivating to watch!
