Waiting On Wednesday #1 / Giveaway at Hale & Salvatore Supernatural Must Reads

to jump on the bandwagon myself.

So here's my very first W.O.W. experience!

But I'm still eagerly anticipating it, since I don't own it yet!

Synopsis

The plot of this novel attracted me right away

Another Giveaway Win!!!!

Yes, indeed, I am the declared winner of another giveaway,

I can't believe it!!

This time, I have won not one,

but three books!!!!

These novels are part of
 The Clockwork Dark Trilogy,
written by American author John Claude Bemis,
and are fantasy tales

of an entirely different order.

They are based on American myths and folklore,

like the legends of John Henry,

for example.  They also feature trains,

something that the author has long been fascinated by.

This first volume introduces the reader to

twelve-year-old Ray, who is an orphan haunted by memories of his father.

He jumps from a train going through the Southern states,

and ends up on a medicine show train.

The performers turn out to be superheroes fighting

an ancient evil known as the Gog....

In this second volume, we discover that there is a Darkness

spreading across Kansas.

It turns good people into bad,  and poisons anyone

who tries to escape.

Ray is now a Rambler, and leads his friends into 

the very heart of the Darkness, on a quest

to find the legendary Wolf Tree, 

which is important to fighting this mysterious evil....

In the final book of the series,
Ray and his friends confront the Gog once again,
at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago,
where they must prevent him from
using machines to control the world and human souls!


All this sounds just absolutely exciting!
I am breathlessly awaiting
the arrival of these books!

Another GREAT Giveaway at "Legacy of a Writer"!!

I was doing some blog browsing a while ago,

and came across another terrific giveaway

at Legacy of a Writer!

The cover, of course, was what first attracted my attention.

I just love beautiful book covers!

The plot sounds so very touching, too.

It's the story of an unwanted teen who gets shuffled around,

from foster home to foster home,

only to finally end up traveling the country

in an RV, forced to steal books

by the family she has been placed with.

Now there's an interesting twist!
I also like the wordplay in the novel's title.

Some time after living the life of a book thief,
Roxy, the protagonist, meets

Abby Dawson, a divorced cop whose ex-husband

has won custody of their only daughter.
Abby is fighting hard to be able to see her.

Here are two suffering people, brought together

by rather unusual circumstances,

both dealing with guilt and forgiveness.
What a compelling story!

Reading Teen's Fabulous New Giveaway!!

Until they meet The Keeper.

They dance in his forest at night, at his invitation.

He, after all, is also trapped -- within the confines of his castle...

And, true to his name, he likes to keep things...

Last night I received an email

from Katy, at Legacy of A Writer,

informing me that I had won this beautiful book!!!!

I am so excited and happy!!!!

The giveaway was posted on March 8th,

and included an interview with the author,

Lisa Bergren.

I found out about this through a new

blog I've discovered -- Christian Book Giveaways.

(Please see the button in the sidebar.)

I loved the interview with Lisa, and immediately

became a follower of Katy's blog,

after which I entered the giveaway.

I had not heard of this author before,

so it was the book's cover

that first caught -- and held -- my attention.

Then I read the interview,

and found my interest piqued by

Bergren's description of the sources of her inspiration,

and what she hopes to accomplish in

this new River of Time series, the first book of which is

Waterfall.

The next step was to find out more about the story.

When I did, I was immediately hooked!

This is a young adult, time-travel fantasy,

which is something that's definitely right up my alley!

The story is about two twin sisters, Gabi and Lia Bentarrini.

They spend every summer in Italy,

along with their parents,

who are well-known Etruscan scholars.

One hot, dusty, afternoon, at an archaeological site,

Gabi happens to place her hand

right on top of a handprint carved into an ancient tomb...

Suddenly, she finds herself in 14th-century Italy,

landing smack in the middle of a battle

between two rival families, the Castello Forelli

and the Paratore.

(Mama mia, those wonderful Italian names!)

Of course, there is a "knight in shining armor" involved....

His name is Marcello Forelli, and he takes Gabi back to his

father's castle.

Lia, who had also put her hand over a handprint,

has somehow become separated from her sister,

although she, too, ends up in medieval Italy.

It later turns out that she is being held by 

the cruel Lord Paratore.

Sounds just wonderful to me!   

This novel is also classified as

a Christian fantasy/romance, 

so this means

I'm in for a great,clean, fun read! 

Naturally, I will be getting the rest of the books

in this series!

The Amazon reviews are unanimously enthusiastic,

and I just can't wait for the book to arrive

so I can start getting swept away...

Of course, I do plan to finish Halo first!

(I'm really enjoying that book, by the way.)

This novel sounds like an utterly fascinating YA read!  I also think that the cover is very beautiful!

Princess Emmajin is determined to become a warrior in her grandfather's army, and he is none other than the fearsome Kublai Khan...  Enter the great explorer, Marco Polo, to whom she becomes fiercely attracted as they travel across 13th-century China, encountering incredible adventures.  Thus she feels the tension experienced by every modern woman -- that between love and the call to a meaningful life mission.

The love story also offers what promises to be a totally enthralling exposition and contrast of two very different cultures.  According to Kat's review, Ms. Jones Yang has thoroughly researched the time period, with the result that one is totally immersed in it.  As everyone knows, there's nothing quite like getting lost in a good book!
