Tired « viscoelasticity

I thought I would have alot to say, and although I have alot on my mind, none of it is coherent enough for any blog-post inspiration. But I guess it's time I try to squeeze anything out, being a week later, before I put it in the has gone-by pile.

Nationals was… disappointing. Both personally and as a team. As pretty much every knows, we were 6-0 but then lost to Montgomery Blair by two points right at the very end and we couldn't play our game for the next match against Fairview. This blog really isn't about the games; you can see the painful details on The Cougar.

It's just that as captain, I feel personally at fault because of our standing. I made some bad judgement calls that could have turned the game over to our favor. I failed to motivate our team to get past our lost. Our coach decided to yell at everybody because of my actions – not that her anger was anything rationally tied to me; I didn't predict it before hand to avoid that disaster right before the competition. I'm sorry; you all deserved so much more. I could not have asked to be apart of a better or more hardworking team and I apologize that I disappointed everybody.

It's bittersweet to put it all behind me. Science Bowl has been a huge part of my four years in high school and I'm sorry it didn't end the way we wanted it to end. It's a bit crazy that we no longer have to read textbooks in our spare time or spend literally hundreds of hours accumulating knowledge of anything from the difference eye piece designs of telescopes to the amino acids that cause our hair to be curly. A huge load has been lifted, but I'm more tired than ever. I'm hesitating to say I would miss it; my time is up and it's been a good run. It really is time for the next generation of science bowlers to take over. I hope you guys see success in your future.
