Myers & Meyers re-sign « The Cat's Whiskers

Rejoice, rejoice then rejoice some more. Weeks of speculation were finally put to rest this evening as both Matt Myers and captain Danny Meyers re-signed for the Panthers for the 2011/12 season.

The signings of both now surely give the Panthers a set of British players to envy with Myers joining the already re-signed David Clarke, Robert Lachowicz & Marc Levers while Meyers Joins Stevie Lee on defence.

Of his return Danny Meyers said "I'm very excited and very privileged to reach an agreement with Corey and the organisation. After last year where else is there to go? Expectations are high, as ever, so be it."
Matt Myers said "We'll be back and we're looking forward to it. We're still, as players, talking about the cup wins, the management and Corey are long since concentrating on next season but it's still on all our minds as players. I was linked with other clubs in particular but in the end it's Nottingham again. Everything is good here."

Personally I'm delighted that both have chosen to return, Meyers is worth his weight in gold as a quality defenceman and Myers is import quality since his stint in the ECHL. For me it was crucial the we retained the Brits from last season and for the club to have them signed by this early in May is astounding, especially when you consider that our double success would surely have had other big clubs sniffing around them.
Coach Corey Neilson and Rick Strachan can now turn their attention to the eight remaining import slots. It should get even more interesting from here.
