We would get a little butter tubs or Styrofoam coffee cup, we would fill it ¾ of the way with dirt put in our seed then put dirt on top of it. It would either be marigolds or a tomato plant. We would put it by the window to get some sun, add water every day and wait, water and wait.
Different plants had different requirements. Some would require a lot of sun and water, some less to make the plant flourish. More is not always better. The environment was also a concern. Sometimes the teacher would remind us that the depth of the seed in the soil was also important. Too deep and the plant would have a hard time breaking through.
Mark 4: 30-32
30 Again he said, "What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? 31 It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. 32 Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade."
As we get ready for RFTS our Sunday Rides and all the other things we do as Christian Eagles and CMA, we must remember that we are all God's children. We as brothers and sisters in Christ should remember we have seedlings among us and as these seedlings grow into young plants, they will require something different as they grow. The amazing thing is that the seed has been planted. Each of us may only be a drop of water in the spiritual growth of that believer, for it is up to the Holy Spirit to make it grow and develop as the Holy Spirit intends it to be. In God's time not ours.
As we go out into the fields this year, we have to understand the possibility that the seeds may not have been planted. It may be an empty field, but ready and waiting!
So, let us prepare ourselves with prayer and ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit. Let us be the light and water that the Lord wants us to be. Walking with God may only require one drop of water at a time.
Lord…you are an awesome God, your grace is amazing and your patience with us is unbelievable, we thank you for residing in us Lord. As the riding season fast approaches Lord, we pray for patience, compassion, and the wisdom to know when we should be a drop of water or a fire hose to whomever you put in our path. We also ask Lord that when we are in an unseeded field, that we, through our actions with each other, be a light of possibility to them, that they may see in us/ You! We pray that you are able to set your seed in them and nourish them to your glory.
It is awesome to know Lord you are only a prayer away…
