My I-94 has expired becoz it was issued up to my passport validity. If I have to renew it, is it a good option to cross border and get a new I-94, like going to Mexico or Canada. Please advice. I am not sure how to proceed. No one knows the procedure. Please if anyone knows, advice.
Do you have an unexpired visa? If so, just traveling out of US and coming back through port-of-entry should do the trick. For best results, try an airline travel. YMMV.

No FP Yet, July 22nd Filer. I tried CSR # few times and finally got hold of someone who was kind -enough.
According to her, there are LOT OF PEOPLE in the same boat and she recieves this phone call more than any other queries.
She said, all she can do is to request Service center for FP status but here is the glitch, Request from CSR to Service Center takes 90 days to process and count another 90 days for the response to be read by CSR and issue a new FP.
Again, she kept saying that these are just numbers from top of her head and nothing is written on stone.

this category is to deal with starting and doing business in USA... no place in the first place to cry and vent depression of your brain and your friends brains... though annoyed with it, i respect your post and respectfully ask you to take it elsewhere... i wont respond to flame from you...

Please reach out to your friends in times of difficulty....the world is not going to end if you don't have a job OR if you there are delays in getting your GC..the world is a wonderful place and still full of opportunity - to add value, to help others etc...you may need to reach out to your friends for help to find your calling or the next opportunity....please don't be desperate....and please ask for help. we all have so many things to be happy and thankful for...

"Interim EAD. as july VB states all EB categories for india is current, is there a chance ( or even worst case scenario ) where the dates can retrogess in the middle of month anytime ?
in other words can we take it for granted that the dates will NOT move back till the last working day of july 07

Hi Kanaka,
Unfortunately, any medical exams/tests conducted in India and any documents resulting from such are not valid.
Your best bet is to bring your family back and respond to the RFE with documentation based in the US.

My wife's I-485 got a REF and I have received the alert. I have not received the actual document. When we went for medical exam in 2006, she was pregnant and one of the vaccine was not given. I am expecting the REF would ask for the remaining tests.
Right now my family is in Hyderabad, India. Is there any provision in Hyderabad to complete medical exam ? or I need to bring them back to US ?

The day I applied that day the PD was current.
PD should be current at the date of approval too. If it's current now you can get decision in couple of weeks, if PD is not current - just forget about checking that dates.
Also that date is showing as 19 july 2007.It means that majority of applications filed before that date and with current PD and necessary checks completed are with adjudicating officers.

There may not be a logical reason as to why your wife got an RFE for Medical and not you.
I had a similar situation. I got an RFE for photos for AP application. But my wife did not get one. We had both got our pictures taken and processed at the same location. There was no issue with quality of photo either.
Now we both have our AP. I do not care why she did not get an RFE.
Maybe if you explain the details of the RFE someone may be able to discuss about it.

I just received this RFE on my spouse's I-485 application. It states that while the applicant's name is spelt **i**** on the application it is spelt **ee**** on the birth and marriage registration certificate. The RFE states that they require some sort of document to show that name was officially changed. In a following note the RFE states that the document (I would assume the green card) that the USCIS will issue will be issued in the name on the birth certificate instead of on I-485 application if sufficient proof of registration of name change is not provided. Only a copy of the passport will not be treated as sufficient proof and supporting documentation that the name was registered with authority has to be provided for the USCIS to accept the name change.
Did anyone face this type of issue. What did you do. Any information would be appreciated as I have no clue about how to deal with this. I will ofcourse consult a lawyer at the beginning of next week but would like some advice.
Not to panic. As said by "trump_gc" prepare an affidavit explaining the correct name and ask the attorney to send an amendment request on 485 if name has to be changed along with all supporting documents and explaining the current situation.
Also please let us know your Priority Date and Receipt Date of I-485 and service center, this helps members of IV understand what PD and RD currently uscis is reviewing.

What do you guys think? USCIS will listen whatever IV says? Also NSC received more applications than other service centers. So it is reasonable for NSC to be behind.

I filed for 485 in July without EAD and AP document since my H1B is valid for another 2 years. In a month's time the most unfortunate thing happened. The company that sponsored my H1B/Green Card just got acquired. It is anticipated that as a result several people will get laid off including me. I have yet to recieve the reciept notice for 485. What happens when something like this happens 180 days before? What are my options if I were to get laid off?
1) Get H1B transfer to another company and hope that old employer won't revoke I-140.
2) Don't get H1B transfer, don't work at all, apply for EAD and AP and wait for the next 5 months to pass. Again hope that employer doesn't revoke I-140.
I have very good relations with employer and so far I have never needed to bend any rules, but don't know what the new people will be like.

I submitted my 485 on July 12 and I got an 08/05 LUD on my pending I-140. Could be coincidence or they checked my 140 as part of the initial 485 processing...

If i am not mistaken We are looking at a legislation which will atleast renew them for few more months....So just as a word of caution it is too early for any assumption that EB4 Religious workers and EB5 is going to completely expire........ Wait 2 more weeks and we will know...

Take it as a compliment. There is nothing wrong in what Joe Biden said. If you watch the last second of the video, Joe has both his hands on the Indian guy's shoulders and I'm sure he must have said good things after that as well.
I have a word of advice for you. Don�t use TOI (Times of India) style headlines to mislead people into reading your post. If you are one of those Indians who has an innate desire to look at everything with a shade of pink glasses you should reconsider living here. Airlines don�t fly one way from India to US. You can always take the flight back home. 16-hour workdays, a fantastic work life balance, and all basic amenities await you in the land of kamadhenu (the sacred mythological cow that gave the Hindu Gods everything they needed for a happy life)
