If Ron Gotcher's logic works, consular processing may be more quicker for India/China EB2.
He says USCIS does not work fast enough to adjudicate 140k cases a year. They only do about 85K. But DOS is clear that they want all 140k visas used up. The result is PDs will be advanced forward and the balance numbers will be used by consular posts.

The point, like ACLU said, is : People should not be stopped/searched/questioned for no reason. It must be done only in response to a suspicious activity.
This treatment of non-citizens vs. citizens is similar to black people not allowed to sit in the front seats. Just a new form of profiling.
I completely agree. This is supposed to be the most advance nation on earth. If we show the drivers lisense and give them the social security number, shouldn't they be able to see whether we are legal or not? Carrying the I-94 is a possibility but it is not a picture ID. I am sure they will ask for passport if you only have the I-94. Now if I am required to carry my passport all the time that becomes a real pain particularly if we are on H1/L1 and present for quite a long time. I understand such requirements for B1/B2 who dont establish residence and are either in a hotel / somebody elses apartment. The bottom line is, "times are bad and they are looking for somebody to direct all their anger and unfortunately it is us that they have chosen". I still dont understand the logic behind this. Americans hate people comming here to work but appreciate people staying in their own country and producing cheap goods to be marketted here. There is also this quite ridiculous situation with the drivers lisense, right? most states we have to retake the whole damn test, yes computer and the acutal driving test, each year when we renew the H1b!! Interesting way the past immigrants treat the future immigrants!!

I got one FP done after filing I-485 and another when I first applied for EAD (18 motnhs back)
My spouse got only one FP request after I-485 and none during EAD renewals.
I wonders if we use AP to enter, do the fingerprints taken at the port of entry automatically get registered with our I-485 application. Because when we enter on AP there is a additional stepo at the port of entry where dat ais entered into some system.

It is not good to use Gandhi name in this. He fought for poor and downtrodden people. He fought against discrimination. And also he lead freedom fight. Because of his simplicity and leadership so many people sacrifice the life for the success.This case is not even close to that. Most immigrants and potential immigrants are within Top 20% of US population. Also there is no viloation of law or human rights. Immigration is controversial issue and there is a feeling that other people are impacted by immigration(It may not be true).
Real protest is leaving country but that will not have any impact as there are many people waiting in India and China to fill the position if anyone leave. Best method is lobbying and waiting for ecomomy to improve. There is bright chance for CIR in 2009 and lobbying that time may bring good results.

We must protest and it has to be a unified process. Last time we were really successful. It was one of the factors why they allowed everyone to file EAD - partial independence. Take it positive.

Both for USCIS and BECs to show some transparency. More posts mean more attention, but the posts are made by 800 members and majority of them are stuck in Dallas and Philly BECs or waiting for 485 to be filed so that they can get portability benefit beyond 6th year.
That is much more important than speed of 485 processing. It is on the agenda of the org but the reason you dont see those posts is because its not a problem yet for the majority on this forum. This meeting was a success since IV was able to display support for the bill and also then follow up after the meeting. IV core members worked hard to make this event a success and we are happy to report this.

hi all, in the same boat too. mine was filed on july 2nd and there is a fedex confirmation about it. i did not hear from any one i know about these rejections or returns until i saw gregs blog. can any one shed a light if they know some one who got a reject. also can you please let me know if there is any way we can find out from uscis or from any one relevant about our application. it is too much of a hassle already and dont want to add more delays to this already cumbersome and sleepless process

In lot of cities we are having India day celebrations. Especially in Major cities. Senators are being invited. We should take this opportunity to explain and leave a flyer or something. One such example is

I will be there and make sure the voice is heard. Do we have any standard document or something.
I personally know that almost all congress men call and ask the presidents of these organizations what is it that your community needs...so this will be right opportunity to push the presidents and the politicians of these organizations...

Cantwell is a Democrat though. If Republicans only get a limited number of amendments would they not try to push this over to Democrat side and ask that it become one of the Democrat's amendment? If they do that it will pretty much be shoved under the table, seeing how democrats feel about High-Skilled immigrants.

I was just pointing out how members in general fall prey to sensationalism and expect IV to answer that sensationalism. Get real dude! There was no personal attack intended or explicit towards any one in my post. I added facts and answered why there was NO spill over as the attorney is telling. You go back to your posts and check what you said. Do a bit of introspection before you resort to mudslinging. Adding facts helps members. Resorting to personal attacks on members such as desi3933 who has been extremely logical and rational in response with real data hurts the whole discussion. we need folks such as desi3933 here. I agree. it makes things easier for illegals and difficult(LC process) for legals.
