Surprise KO from Machida: Modern Day Karate Kid « Isa who?

Many questioned Couture's length of stay in the UFC saying that he is in no shape anymore. He may have lost the this fight against Machida but to have fought in the octagon until the age of 47 is a far cry from being out of shape. The two fighters shook hands at the end of the fight and showed that they were both gracious gentlemen in the face of defeat or win. Couture announced his retirement from the Ultimate Fighting Champion at the end of the fight. Couture is the first fighter in UFC history to hold two different championship titles in two different divisions (heavyweight and light heavyweight) at the same time. *** Georges St-Pierre wins the Welterweight Championship bout against Jake Shields from a unanimous decision (50-45, 48-47, 48-47) for the main event to retain the title. Pablo Garza is awarded submission of the night for submitting Yves Jabouin with a flying triangle choke at 4:31 of the first round.  Featherweight bout Fight of the night goes to fight between José Aldo and Mark Hominick. do defeated Hominick via unanimous decision (48-45, 48-46, 49-46) to retain the UFC Featherweight Championship.
