Answers to some of your questions:
I am in the same situation. I have already sent my FOIA request about 3 weeks back. They have processed only 250 request in last one week. They have around 8600 requests. So it will take around 7 to 9 months to get the docs.
Since you will be asking only for I-140 and/or perm docs, there will be no cost.
You need to know SOC code/Job responsibilities/Salary for using AC-21.
Hopefully, some one who has more knowledge will reply to your other questions.

All,
My 4 years and 2 months on H1B will finish in this November and we are in the process of applying for an extension. I have my 140 approved and waiting for my priority date to become current.
Can I apply for 3 years extension based on my 140 approval? or do I have to apply for 2 yrs extension to finish my 6 yrs first and then eligible to apply for 3 more years (if my priority date is still not current by then?). My HR is under the second impression (2 yrs and then 3 yrs).
Also, please can you specify the USCIS rule under which it is applicable?

Don't be so harsh Kumar. This whole process is so troublesome and some times illogical, you get all kinds of doubts, especially when you are working with a short time line. (S)He did not mention getting a green card for them but going through medicals.

What does a soft LUD mean ? I have often read that term on the forum.
I at times see that something was updated on my case..."last updated date" but then there is no status update.....for example this happened on my I131 application on Feb 4, 2009
On the I485 I think it is just that they transferred it from one office to another as the status says.

A lot of people don't submit a formal AC21 letter when they change jobs, but if you want to do so, then it is better that you don't assume that they are going to look at your h1b app and figure you used AC21.... in most cases, uscis doesn't even look at AC21 before sending an RFE or NOID when I140 is revoked. Take what you can out of this...

Hello There,
Thank you taking time to go through the details.
My green card application is family based and my spouse is a primary applicant. I have a EAD as of now and I recently got laid off on January 15th 2010. My H1B VISA expired on January 23rd 2010.
Issue: I recently applied for Advance parole and got rejected. Reason was given that my I-485 is administratively closed.
My laywer has suggested that I should immediately apply for H4 to save my status. I am really not sure what to do here. I am sure I will find a job in about 2 weeks but not sure if I will be able to get my H1B renewed or will be able to get a new H1B as I have already been counted towards the quota once.
I also read that it depends on the approval of I-130 but in my case I couldn't find I-130 for myself, even though there is one for my spouse which was approved in 2007.
My questions are:
1: What steps should I take to save my immigration status?
2. My EAD is not denied yet, should I start working on EAD or apply for H1B right away?
3. Can my H1B be renewed as it has already expired?
4. I have had a EAD for over a year and all of a sudden it may get canceled. Is there a way I can appeal somewhere as a mistake was made my immigration itself?
5. Have you experienced any cases similiar to mine and what were the outcomes?
Please, let me know your thoughts as your expertise can certainly help me save my career.

Remember to point it out at FP, and they will also ask you to phone USCIS and correct it. You could phone USCIS first, and then you might find that FP has it already corrected in the computer.
Once USCIS update it they will send you a letter to say that they made a change to the file, this is just FYI.
My wife's DoB had a typo. It was spotted at FP office.
Of course I am assuming some obvious typo, not a FP notice for Jim Smith and your name is Ramkrishnan Singh. :-)

I think I found it. For the property you are wishing to limit the range of values to, set the NumberRangesAttribute defined in Microsoft.Windows.Design.Interaction DLL.
